MEMPHIS, Tenn. — When winter weather hits, power outages are always a possibility, and we want to make sure you’re taking safety precautions, while staying warm.

In a matter of hours, the Mid-South will experience its first winter storm of 2026, which means there’s a potential for power outages, amid the frigid temps, ice and snow.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says electric homes face the most challenges during power outages in frigid temperatures, but there are some ways you can stay warm, without a heater.
