ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – 7@four spoke with Roanoke plumber Travis Carter, owner of Carter Plumbing, as he provided tips on how to avoid frozen pipes just in time for the winter storm being forecast for the weekend.

- Disconnect hoses from outside spigots, turn interior shut off valves off, and install insulated covers.
- Leave faucets running at a drip. It doesn’t have to be a stream, just enough to keep water moving.
- Open cabinet doors on kitchen and vanities to allow the warm air to circulate under cabinets.
- If the power goes out and the house is getting cold, be sure to turn off main water valve and open all faucets in house. So, the water will drain out.
- RV & Marine antifreeze can be poured in toilet tanks,…
