Luckily, there are simple things you can do to stay safe and warm if you lose electricity.

Close off rooms

Shut the doors to any rooms that are not in use. Taking this step will help avoid wasting heat, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health.

Cold air is very dry, so you want to stay hydrated too. Avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol as those types of beverages may make you more dehydrated and lower your body’s ability to keep warm.
