Second Harvest prepares meals as winter storm approaches Louisiana

ELMWOOD, La. (WVUE) – Second Harvest Food Bank volunteers are preparing meals for residents who may need to stay at warming shelters as a winter storm approaches southeast Louisiana.

The food bank is boxing meals that include shrimp and pasta with broccoli and bread for people going to warming shelters in Jefferson, Orleans, Terrebonne, Iberia and Lafayette parishes.

“We’re preparing for seniors on a Monday through Friday basis. We have volunteers who are coming at all shifts, not only in the kitchen, but also in our distribution center,” said John Sillars, Chief Strategic Officer with Second Harvest.
