Montgomery Blair High security staff monitoring parking lot Friday after ICE activity confirmed near campus

Security staff at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring will be monitoring the school’s front parking lot throughout the day after activity by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was reported next to the school’s campus Friday morning, according to a social media post from Principal Damon Monteleone.

According to the post, the school administration received and confirmed reports of ICE activity at roughly 8:15 a.m., on westbound University Boulevard directly in front of Silver Spring Fire Station 16, which is next to the campus.

“We are in communication with [Montgomery County Public Schools] and liaising with county government officials,” Monteleone said in the statement, and added security staff will be monitoring the parking lot facing University Boulevard. “Should we see additional activity, or unidentified law enforcement near campus, we will inform our community.”…
