Beloved Salem Shawarma Spot Rolls Into Downtown Dallas

Damascus Kitchen in Salem, long a go-to for its chicken shawarma, is getting ready to fire up a second operation in nearby Dallas, Oregon, this time out of a takeout-focused food truck. Owners have been teasing a downtown setup on social media and say the truck will serve the same wraps and salads that turned the Salem counter into a local favorite. There is still no firm opening date, although staff have signaled the new spot is “coming soon.”

On its website, Damascus Kitchen lists 440 State Street as its Salem address and shares hours along with a carryout-friendly menu. The counter has drawn steady positive feedback for hearty, spice-forward wraps and plates that hold up well on the ride home. The team says it plans to lift that same takeout-first model straight onto a parked truck in downtown Dallas.

Where The Truck Will Park

According to What Now Portland, staff have promoted a Dallas location at 995 S Main Street, with the truck set to park at the corner of Main and SE Washington. It would share the intersection with Pad Thai King and Bombastic Bubble Tea, turning that corner into a compact little food hub. Part-owner Mohammad Alawad, who runs Damascus Kitchen with his mother, Abeer Aokhawab, told the outlet the food truck’s menu “will be exactly the same” as the Salem restaurant, and that there is no opening date on the books yet. The plan is strictly takeout-first, with a parked truck rather than a dine-in space.

The Menu: Same Shawarma Favorites

Third-party ordering platforms for the Salem counter highlight staples such as the chicken shawarma wrap, a lamb wrap, and taboula salad, which gives a solid preview of what Dallas customers can expect. Listings on Uber Eats show the same wraps and plates from the Salem location, suggesting the truck will stay focused on portable options like wraps, plates, and a few salads that travel well. Pricing and any truck-only specials have not been announced.
