Work on Augusta data center to begin in spring

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richards have lived in Haynes Station a little more than three years, but didn’t know anything about a coming data center.“To me, the wool has been pulled over our eyes about this data center. I think we should be given more information,” said Frank Richards.The data center is planned for the 2800 block of Gordon Highway near Haynes Station. The Development Authority is describing it as a multi-million dollar investment with construction scheduled to begin in a couple of months.“They have their grading permits into planning now. I think the estimate there is the March/April timeframe for permits, for the grading work to start, so you’ll see construction start this calendar year on the building for the first phase,” said Cal Wray, President of the Augusta Economic Development Authority.The site has been approved for the Data Center, so no commission votes will be needed, but city leaders are promising that they will keep neighbors better…..
