Winter Storm Warning Issued, 18 Inches Of Snow Possible

January has brought a steady stream of snowfalls to the Capital Region, and this weekend could bring the biggest storm of them all.

Winter Storm Warning Issued For Capital Region & Upstate New York

This week, we have been tracking a major, widespread snowstorm making its way across the nation to the East Coast. Initially, the mid-Atlantic United States was set to take the brunt of this one, but the storm’s path has shifted north and is now expected to bring a fair amount of snow to the Empire State. The Weather Channel is expecting this storm to affect 230 million Americans with ice to the south and plenty of snow of us in Upstate New York.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has officially issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Capital Region and Upstate New York from 7 am this Sunday, January 25th, through 7 pm Monday, January 26th.

The latest snowfall predictions from the NWS below are calling for 12 to 18 inches of snow for most of the Capital Region and Upstate New York.

A Facebook post from the National Weather Service of Albany says this storm will create .”…hazardous travel, especially during high snowfall rates (1″+ per hour) Sunday into Sunday night.” Snow will continue into Monday and will wind down Monday night…
