FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Don Chevillet made his WOWO radio debut in 1959, at a time when a personality on a 50,000 watt AM radio station could stop traffic.
Chevillet did that on his very first show, according to WOWO.com, broadcasting from an outdoor scaffolding that stopped walkers and drivers on Washington Blvd. who wanted to watch and listen.
Chevilett, who was born in Detroit and remained in Northeast Indiana after he left the airwaves, died Wednesday at the age of 98, leaving behind a daughter, son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren…
