Lovesick Publix worker in The Villages set free after found incompetent

A lovesick Publix worker in The Villages has been set free after he was found incompetent to stand trial.

Christian Michael Metevier, 25, who lives at 1509 E. Schwartz Blvd. on the Historic Side of The Villages, was released Thursday from the Sumter County Detention Center where he had been lodged since Nov. 24. Metevier was released on his own recognizance after the judge ruled that he is incompetent.

Metevier was arrested after violating a court order which had forbidden him from getting near the objective of his intense affection, a female manager at Publix at Trailwinds Village in Wildwood.

Metevier was apparently no longer employed by Publix when he began showing up at the store, including inquiring about the woman at the customer service desk and getting in an elevator to go to an upstairs office where she worked. He began leaving her voice messages and sent her a message through Facebook messenger, indicating he was “excited” about the possibility of marrying her. He called her, “princess.”…
