ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A pedestrian was seriously injured Friday afternoon after being pinned between vehicles in a chain-reaction crash caused by whiteout conditions on Monroe-Orleans County Line Road.
The Hamlin Morton Walker Fire District was dispatched around 2:20 p.m. for an initial report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. While crews were en route, they were told the person was trapped underneath a vehicle. The first arriving officer confirmed the situation and began providing medical care.
According to emergency officials, the incident began when a vehicle slid off the road in near-zero visibility and became stuck in a deep, hard-packed snow drift. A second vehicle stopped to help, and the pedestrian was standing between the two vehicles.
A third vehicle, unable to see through the whiteout, struck the stopped vehicle, pushing it into the first car and trapping the pedestrian between them. Moments later, a fourth vehicle crashed into the third, restarting the chain reaction and further pinning the victim…
