LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln mom Emerald Buhr often starts her days by rolling over in bed and seeing her 5-year-old daughter curled up next to her. She said her daughter often comes to her room in the middle of the night to sleep next to her.
Growing up with what she says were absent parents, Buhr, 32, never had a typical mother-daughter relationship. Then, after losing custody of her own three children because of addiction, violence and unstable housing, Buhr never thought she would be able to be the mother she is today.
Now clean and sober since July 13, 2020, Buhr said she is focused on being a better mom for her two children she has custody of. She said the best part of her day is going to pick up her children from school and seeing their smiling faces…
