COLFAX, WA—At approximately 6:30 a.m., deputies with the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a residence off State Route 26 outside of Colfax. The property owner in the incident reported an unknown vehicle parked behind their shop with the engine running.
Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle behind the shop, still running and unoccupied. While deputies were on scene, an individual was observed inside the property owner’s motorhome attempting to start and drive off with the vehicle. Deputies contacted the individual and directed him to exit the motorhome. The individual complied and was taken into custody without incident.
