In preparation for the winter storm, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) says crews across western North Carolina have been pre-treating the roads for days.
NCDOT communications manager, David Uchiyama, says crews have applied brine to the major interstates first.
Uchiyama says that preparation for the weather also included getting contractors lined up to clear out the snow and ice, while also having contractors who will clear trees when they fall on the road or power lines…
