CHARLESTON , S.C. (WCIV) — A fire potentially caused by an electric blanket in a West Ashley apartment was contained by the building’s sprinkler system Friday evening, local officials announced Saturday.
The Charleston Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the Element at Carolina Bay Apartments just before 7 p.m. Friday night after an automatic sprinkler activation. Firefighters searched the building and found an extinguished fire in one apartment that had been suppressed by the sprinkler system.
