FWACC reminds pet owners of city ordinance, shares tips as cold temperatures, snow settles into 21Country

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – As cold temperatures and snow settle into 21Country, Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control is reminding pet owners of an animal-related city ordinance and sharing tips for the conditions.

According to the department, the city ordinance requires animals to be brought into a temperature-controlled structure when temperatures are below 10 degrees and when a local, state, or national authority has issued an extreme cold warning.

They add that animals cannot remain outside longer than 15 minutes without access to adequate shelter and potable (unfrozen) water, regardless of temperatures…
