Rare coral reef closer to reopening to shrimp trawling after vote

One of the world’s rarest ecosystems off Florida’s Treasure Coast moved one step closer to being reopened to shrimp trawling for the first time in decades.

Members of the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted Fridayto approve two amendmentsallowing shrimp trawling on parts of the Oculina Bank off the coast of Fort Pierce.
