I-25 to close at Montgomery Blvd. for two nights next week for bridge construction

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s part of the massive project widening I-25 to improve safety and travel time. Now, drivers can expect closures for a few nights next week through the interchange at I-25 and Montgomery.

On January 27 and 28, I-25 will be closed in each direction overnight as crews work to install beams as they widen the bridge. “We definitely have to be precise with these beams, and so that’s the best way to do it, is to close that area down and make things safe for everybody, including our construction workers. The motorists, the traveling public. Anybody in that area. We are just making sure we are doing things as safe as possible,” said Dist. 3 New Mexico Department of Transportation Public Information Officer Kimberly Gallegos.

Next Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. NMDOT will have I-25 closed at the Montgomery interchange. Crews will be placing 12 large beams as they are widening the bridge and reconstructing it to bring it up to current construction standards. Once drivers on I-25 reach Montgomery, they will be diverted onto the Pan American frontage roads and then back on the interstate…
