CDTA advises riders to expect delays, offers real-time updates during winter storm

CAPITAL REGION, NY (WRGB) — The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) is gearing up for a significant snowfall expected to hit the Capital Region starting Sunday, Jan. 25, and continuing through Monday, Jan. 26. In light of the impending winter storm, CDTA is urging residents to limit road travel when possible to allow crews to safely clear the roadways. For essential travel, CDTA services remain a viable option.

CDTA will maintain its regular Sunday schedule on Jan. 25 and its regular Monday schedule on Jan. 26, though weather-related delays or detours may occur. Due to a State of Emergency declared by New York State, state employees have been authorized to work remotely, leading to the suspension of the Northway Xpress (NX) and Thruway Xpress (TX) commuter services on Monday, Jan. 26. These services will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Additionally, the CDTA sales window at 85 Watervliet Ave. in Albany will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday.

To ensure safe and reliable service during the winter conditions, CDTA may opt to keep articulated buses off the road, using buses better suited for snowy conditions instead. Riders are encouraged to check headway signs, as they may notice different types of buses on their usual routes…
