OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — Edgemoor Bridge in Oak Ridge has reopened after a crash left the bridge damaged Sunday morning
Just after 3:45 a.m. Sunday, the City of Oak Ridge reported the bridge on Edgemoor Road, which crosses Melton Hill Lake near the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Bill Run Fossil Plant, was closed in both directions because of a crash. The bridge reopened around 10 a.m.
Thousands without power across East Tennessee due to winter storm
Just after 9 a.m., a city spokesperson explained that a Ford F-250 lost control and struck the concrete bridge railing, causing significant damage. Later, a car struck the truck in a separate crash. The spokesperson said no one was injured in either crash.
The city shared that the Tennessee Department of Transportation is on the scene with engineers examining the bridge and assessing how long the repair could take.
