Silver Spring man who died after being in police custody is identified

The Maryland Office of the Attorney General identified the man who died following a medical crisis two hours after being released by Montgomery County police on Dec. 15, 2025 in Silver Spring.

Jamal Thompson, 31, of Silver Spring, was identified as the victim.

The officers involved, according to the attorney general’s office, are Officer Kevin Argueta, a 15-year veteran; Officer Kyle Conley, a six-year veteran; Officer Rebecca Davis, a six-year veteran; Officer Rachel Hopko, a 10-year veteran; Officer Kimorra Maier, a three-year veteran; Officer Maxie Weisz, an 11-year veteran; and Officer Colin Staszewski, who served one year on the force.
