December Shooting Case Breaks Open as Police Arrest Suspect Weeks Later

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police say they have arrested a man in connection with a shooting last month that left a young man critically injured and sparked a weeks-long investigation.

According to police, officers from the Uniformed Services Division responded at approximately 9:29 p.m. on December 3 to the 300 block of West Twelfth Street for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The case was assigned to Detective Avery Stewart of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of the investigation, police allege evidence led detectives to identify Edward Shepard, 29, as the suspected shooter. Authorities said arrest warrants were subsequently obtained…
