GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) – Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers have released the identities of the three people killed in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 6 near the Grimes and Waller County line on Wednesday afternoon.
DPS says the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, when a 2020 Freightliner 18-wheeler traveling northbound crossed the center median and struck a 2026 Hyundai Santa Cruz traveling southbound.
The victims were identified as:
- Charles Ortega, 45, of Hempstead — driver of the Hyundai
- Travis Morehead, 46, of Hempstead — front seat passenger
- Ryan Morehead, 21, of Hempstead — backseat passenger
