Early Friday, a 37-year-old man became the latest victim of violence on Chicago’s CTA trains, sustaining a stab wound during an attempted robbery on the Green Line train. According to ABC7 Chicago, the confrontation occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the South Austin neighborhood’s 300-block of North Central Avenue when an assailant armed with a sharp object demanded the man’s property and attacked him following a struggle.
The attempt to decisively tackle CTA crime is ongoing, with the introduction of the Transit Rider Interaction Program (TRIP) intending to visibly place police officers on platforms and ride trains to perform security checks. This initiative comes in the shadow of several violent incidents this month, including a lethal stabbing on the Blue Line, recorded by the suspect.
