Deputy involved in shooting after man, dog reportedly stabbed in Parkland

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Authorities are investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Parkland after a man and his dog were reportedly injured in a stabbing Sunday morning.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office said a 54-year-old man called 911 around 6:24 a.m. to report that he had been stabbed near the S S Quickstop Grocery. The victim told dispatchers the suspect was an unknown man who ran south along Park Avenue South after the assault.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim in serious condition. He reported that the suspect approached him and questioned him about his religion. After the victim responded and referenced being a Christian, the suspect allegedly attacked, stabbing both the man and his dog.
