Sameer Rao, named editor of The Daily Record in December, announced on LinkedIn that he has left the legal, business and government news daily after a month in the role.
“I’ve already told many of you about this, but for those who don’t yet know, a major professional update: I’m back on the job hunt!” Rao posted on LinkedIn. “There’s no crazy or controversial or juicy story behind why I left The Daily Record after roughly a month in its top editorial role — some jobs just aren’t the right fit. And especially this year, journalism is way too important for any publication to have the wrong person steering the ship. I hope this inspires anybody reading to know that it’s fine to leave something that isn’t right, to know that it isn’t a mistake or a problem but simply an action to which (I sincerely hope!) we needn’t attach stigma.”
Rao, in main image, had replaced longtime editor Thomas Baden Jr., who retired in June.
