Mountain Brook’s “Mayor for the Day” program has officially been redubbed in honor of a fallen member of their community. The annual program is now called the “Sarah C. Marsh Mayor for the Day” after an eight-year-old girl of the same name that passed away last year during the flooding at Camp Mystic, TX.
Mountain Brook City Council passed the resolution to honor her memory on Monday, Jan 19. People who knew her say she was a “true cheerleader for the Mountain Brook community” and that she was known for her young love of civic life. Officials hope that by renaming this program, they’ll allow Marsh’s light to continue inspiring future generations of young leaders.
The first recipient of the “Sarah C. Marsh Mayor for the Day” program was her brother John Marsh. John is in the fourth grade at Cherokee Bend Elementary.
