Energy providers in Upstate SC release latest winter storm power outages

During the initial hours of sleet, freezing rain, and snow on the morning of Jan. 25, fewer than 30 outages were reported between Duke Energy and Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op.

As a second wave of cold weather is expected overnight, here are the latest updates on energy service providers and the number of customers affected.

Duke Energy

As of 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 25, Duke Energy reported 772 active outages and just over 32,000 customers without power across the Carolinas.

According to their “Outages in the Carolina” map, the highest affected areas in the Upstate are near Lake Keowee (5,000), Travelers Rest (1,000), Greer (1,000), and Spartanburg (1,000)…
