SPARTANBURG, S.C. – On Sunday, many of the roads across the county were coated with a thick layer of sleet and ice, creating dangerous driving conditions in Spartanburg County.
Our 7News crews saw cars slipping and even an accident on New Cut Road.
“I was pretty scared, I didn’t know if it was going be like- you know you see it on the news where everyone drives all into each other,” said Spartanburg County resident Gary Winthorpe. “We were driving all down this way, he pulled in front of the GMC causing him to swerve, the Ram pulled in over here, and GMC ended up in the ditch.”
The South Carolina Department of Transportation said crews started preparing state roads early last week, deploying 3 million gallons of brine statewide and crews are not slowing down…
