Lenoir City Police recover stolen truck in under 30 minutes

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Lenoir City Police Department reminded people to secure their vehicles after recovering a stolen truck on Saturday.

According to police, a person went into a local restaurant, leaving their truck unlocked and running in the parking lot. The truck was stolen, and LCPD used license plate reader technology to find it in just under 30 minutes.

The suspect was arrested and faces charges of motor vehicle theft and driving on a suspended license. The truck was returned to its owner.

“We would also like to remind the public that taking a few extra seconds to secure your vehicle can go a long way in preventing auto thefts and burglaries,” LCPD said.
