Carbon Monoxide Leak Sends 23 Elementary School Students to the Hospital in Florida

A Florida elementary school was evacuated after a gas leak was reported, and 23 students were taken to a hospital following the incident.

According to the Public Safety Department in Winter Haven, located about 50 miles outside of Tampa, fire and police officials responded to the leak at Cypress Junction Montessori School at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.

Authorities said that a carbon monoxide detector was triggered inside of one of the school’s buildings. School staff began evacuating students, and by the time fire crews arrived, all students and staff were outside…
