Lexington police respond to more than 140 weather-related incidents as winter storm hits city

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Lexington Police Department responded to 146 weather-related incidents Sunday as winter conditions created hazardous driving across the city.

Between 5 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., police responded to six non-injury collisions, one injury collision, 24 traffic hazards and 139 calls for motorist assistance.

Drivers are asked to travel only if necessary. Roadways, especially bridges and overpasses, can be hazardous in the snow and ice.

City operations affected by weather

City offices for employees not involved in winter weather response will be closed Monday, Jan. 26. City waste collection is canceled for Monday, and a makeup date will be announced soon.
