Austin police respond to over 1,000 calls during Central Texas freeze

AUSTIN, Texas — Winter weather conditions kept Austin police busy overnight, with officers responding to more than 1,000 calls for service as freezing temperatures and hazardous road conditions affected the area.

The Austin Police Department said officers responded to 1,068 calls for service from noon Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday, including 67 collisions and 32 traffic hazards.
