On January 24, the Simi Valley Police Department leveraged its tech arsenal, notably a FLOCK security system, to nab a suspect in possession of a stolen vehicle. The arrest, which occurred just after noon in the vicinity of Sycamore Drive and Cochran Street, was the culmination of a high-tech alert followed by some good, old-fashioned policework.
An officer patrolling the area, alerted by the FLOCK notification of the stolen vehicle, located the car with Casey Millar, a 34-year-old Santa Barbara resident, seated inside in the 2800 block of Cochran Street. The car had been swiped the previous night, January 23, and the theft was reported the following morning, according to a Nixle advisory issued by the police department.
Upon detention, police discovered items inside the vehicle which were suspected to be stolen. The subsequent investigation uncovered that Millar had made the trek to Simi Valley with the intention of selling some of these ill-gotten gains at a local establishment…
