Residential Structure Fire on Echo Trail
On Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 6:37 p.m., the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the 900 block of Echo Trail in unincorporated Marengo for a reported residential structure fire.
The caller reported smoke inside the home, but the source was not immediately clear.
Firefighters arrived on scene and observed nothing showing from the exterior of the two-story residence.
Crews made entry into the home and located a fire on the second floor in the ceiling area near the chimney.
Shortly after entry, active fire was observed extending from the chimney cap.
Due to the rural location, subzero temperatures, and the potential for fire extension within the structure, the incident was upgraded through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System to request additional resources…
