John Higgins Invitational crowns Bennington team title in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Neb. — Bennington rolled to the team championship at the John Higgins Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, finishing with 193.5 points to top a 14-team field at Lexington High School.

Gering placed second with 156.5 points, followed by York with 133 and Gretna at 122. North Platte rounded out the top five with 116.5 points. Sidney finished 12th overall with 51 points.

Bennington claimed multiple individual titles, including championships from Lane Welchert at 113 pounds, Finn Williams at 132 and Brodee Scobee at 138. The Badgers also added podium finishes across nearly every weight class to pull away from the field…
