Snow is gone but dangerous cold lingers Monday

The winter storm is gone but the cold will stick around as we start the new week. Extreme Cold Alerts will remain in effect through this morning.

Winds are light this morning but even the slightest breeze will make it feel dangerously cold. As of 5am, wind chills have been as low as -23.

There was some light snow making its way through the area during the night. This will be gone before the sun is up and will not amount to much.

Despite being a cold start to the week, high temperatures will show some improvement compared to the weekend. Central Kansas will stay below freezing all day but some spots in Western Kansas will be able to get above freezing.

Improvements to our temperatures continue tomorrow. The potential for temperatures to get up to and slightly above freezing will spread east.

No major storm systems are expected to impact the area for a while.
