Amsterdam, NY (WRGB) — An Amsterdam man is facing felony charges following a traffic stop that led to his arrest for driving while intoxicated, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jeffery T. Smith said a deputy sheriff was on patrol in Amsterdam on January 24 when a vehicle was stopped for driving without proper registration. The driver was identified as 36-year-old Alfredo Ramirez of Amsterdam.
During the stop, the deputy suspected Ramirez was intoxicated. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, and Ramirez was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. A chemical test later revealed Ramirez had a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08%…
