CHARLESTON, S.C. (Palmetto Life) — Live 5 Meteorologist Joey Sovine concluded his tenure at the station Monday morning with a surprise celebration featuring his favorite dessert and an unexpected visit from his family.
The farewell segment on Palmetto Life included custard from Gustard’s Custard, a local shop Sovine frequents with his children. Nelson Burch, the owner and founder, brought several flavors including seasonal mint with chocolate chips, vanilla with M&Ms, and vanilla with rainbow sprinkles.
“Joey was in a daze. No, Joey would not stop eating this the entire show,” said a co-host, referencing Sovine’s previous on-air custard experience in June.
Family surprise
Sovine’s family made an unannounced appearance during the broadcast, his wife Chanel and children Brynlee and Easton, along with their new dog Tucker. The children held handmade signs for their father’s farewell…
