RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Duke Energy has alerted customers in the midst of a damaging winter storm that scammers are sending messages about a false scheduled power outage.
According to the electricity provider, they became aware of the scam once it began circulating on social media. They said multiple customers received at least one of these texts:
