DOJ: Former owner of Fresno’s El Ranchito Bakery sentenced

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The former owner of a bakery in Fresno was sentenced Monday for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and offenses, the Department of Justice said.

The DOJ said Jorge Luis Rivera from Fresno was the former owner of El Ranchito Bakery. He was sentenced to three years in prison and was ordered to pay $3,499,999 in restitution for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud offenses.

According to court documents, beginning in 2011 and continuing through August 2018, Rivera exchanged Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for unauthorized items at the request of customers…
