Stanislaus County linen company sells to competitor, lays off almost 90 workers

A Patterson-based company sold to a multinational corporation resulting in the layoff of almost 90 workers in Stanislaus County.

Advanced Linen Service, which announced the layoffs on Jan. 5, provides table linens for restaurants and other linen services. They were bought out by a multinational competitor, Alsco Uniforms.

Gordon Hickman, co-owner of Advanced Linen, said he originally wanted to try to buy out the company from his two co-owners who could no longer manage the company due to health concerns, but he couldn’t afford it…
