Walmart breaks ground on solar field to power fulfillment center in Stockton

Walmart held a groundbreaking ceremony in celebration of its newest utility-scale solar field in Stockton.

The ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 22, celebrated the project at 5150 Mariposa Road in Stockton. The solar field will power the company’s newest next-generation fulfillment center, set to open in the fall. It will be the company’s fifth fulfillment center of its kind.

“Today’s groundbreaking is about more than a solar field. It’s about how this facility will operate from day-one. The clean energy generated here will help power our fulfillment center, supporting a more efficient, reliable and sustainable operation,” Dean Yoder, general manager for the new Walmart fulfillment center, said during the ceremony. “I’m incredibly proud that this facility is connected to Walmart’s largest owned and operated solar field in the state of California … we’re proud to be part of this community and grateful for the partnerships that make projects like this possible. Today is the beginning of something special, and we’re excited to celebrate it together.”…
