Cold Weather Shelters to Open Tonight and Tomorrow Evening in and Around Osceola County

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — As a significant drop in temperatures is expected this week, Osceola County officials announced that three cold weather shelters will open Monday and Tuesday evenings to provide overnight refuge for individuals experiencing homelessness or those without adequate heat.

Following established cold weather protocols that activate when temperatures are forecast to fall below 40 degrees Fahrenheit for more than four consecutive hours, shelters will open at 6 p.m. tonight, Monday, January 26, and tomorrow night, Tuesday, January 27 at the following locations:

  • First United Methodist Church St. Cloud, 1000 Ohio Avenue, St. Cloud
  • Iglesia Del Nazareno Casa De Vida, 2367 Fortune Road, Kissimmee
  • Poinciana Christian Church, 3181 Pleasant Hill Road, Kissimmee

Faith-based organizations and local nonprofit partners are also conducting outreach in areas where individuals experiencing homelessness are known to congregate, helping spread awareness of shelter availability and coordinating transportation and logistics.

Residents needing transportation to a cold weather shelter can ride LYNX buses at no cost by informing the bus driver they are traveling to a cold weather shelter.
