Nike expects to layoff more than 700 employees in Tennessee and Mississippi

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Nike is expecting to layoff more than 700 employees in Tennessee and Mississippi.

The news comes as the company moves forward to streamline and strengthen operations to power its “Win Now” actions, which involve consolidating U.S. distribution centers.

“We are sharpening our supply chain footprint, accelerating the use of advanced technology and automation, and investing in the skills our teams need for the future,” the company said in a statement. “Our actions to consolidate our operations footprint primarily impact our US distribution operations.
