A routine traffic stop in Galt took a dramatic turn when a Mercedes-Benz failed to heed a stop sign, and its driver chose to lead police on a high-speed chase instead of pulling over. The Galt Police Department detailed the incident that swiftly escalated from a minor traffic violation to a felony chase on their social media page, stating, “A Galt PD Sergeant attempted to stop a Mercedes-Benz for failing to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Twin Cities Road and Marengo Road.”
The vehicle, instead of yielding, sped off, leading to a pursuit along Twin Cities Road. The Sergeant tried to bring the Mercedes-Benz to a halt using a PIT maneuver not once, but twice. The first attempt to end the chase was unsuccessful; however, “a second PIT maneuver was performed shortly after, causing the vehicle to spin around before continuing eastbound on Twin Cities Road,” as per the Galt Police Department’s post.
