On 1/24/2026, just after 8 p.m., deputies with the Will County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a suspicious person at Balmoral Park on Dixie Highway in Crete.
Upon arrival, a witness told deputies that while watching surveillance video, they saw two people jumping over a fence, landing on the horse racing track property.
Deputies began searching the area and found fresh footprints in the snow. They followed the tracks to a tree line where two people were found hiding under a tree with burglary tools (pry bar, wire cutters, grinder) around them…
