Stone County, Mo., man rescues woman and her dog from icy James River

STONE COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) – A Stone County man is being hailed as a hero.

Kyle Todd says a Facebook post alerted him to a potentially deadly situation unfolding on the James River at McCord Bend, near Galena, Sunday morning.

Millie, a greyhound and lab mix, was let outside her home when she suddenly took off. Her owner was trying to get her dog off the river when the ice gave way, sending the dog into the frigid water. Todd, hearing about the post from his girlfriend, decided to head to the area to lend a hand. He says he first attempted to walk out to the dog wearing waders, but realized the dog was too far out…
