Salt Lake City School Board reviews plans for transferring students and staff after Innovations High School closure.

The Salt Lake City Board of Education on Tuesday reviewed its transition plans for students affected by the closure of Innovations Early College High School and the reconfiguration of Nibley Park School.

Last month, the school board voted to close Innovations and to shift Nibley Park from a K-8 model to a more traditional elementary with kindergarten through sixth grade. In the past month Superintendent Liz Grant said she has been working with Boundaries and Planning director Brian Conley to come up with plan to ease the transition for students impacted by the changes.

For Innovations High, the transition plan focuses on helping the remaining 52 students enrolled there to find the school that best fits their needs and continues their early college coursework. Innovation’s current counselors will initiate the transition process by reviewing student transcripts and graduation planning, in order to find the best option for the 2026-2027 school year…
