AFR tackles 3 separate fires across metro

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It was a busy day for Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) crews as they responded to three separate fires across the metro. Earlier on Sunday afternoon, AFR responded to a call for a residential structure fire, leaving one person displaced.

Crews arrived at a house fire on the southeast side of Juan Tabo Blvd with reports of a person still inside. It took fire rescue teams 15 minutes to get the fire under control. When crews searched the building, they confirmed there was no one home at the time of the fire. The cause was determined to be accidental.

Around 7:00 p.m., AFR was dispatched to a fire at an abandoned house in northwest Albuquerque. When crews arrived, they said the fire was spread throughout the entire structure. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes. It took 13 units and 33 firefighters to tackle the flames. They believe the fire was caused by a squatter who set a warming fire…
